Trip to Barcelona

My one and only New Years resolution was to travel more, so when my dad called to say we'd be heading out to Barcelona the following week, I was so excited!

He treated me to the cutest little mid-week getaway as a pre-birthday present. The main reason for heading to Barcelona was for the Champions League Barcelona vs PSG game, but we were also looking forward to being tourists for the day and exploring the city!

We stayed near Catalunya at Hotel Meson Castilla on Carrer de Valldonzella - the hotel was cheap, cheerful and our rooms had been recently renovated so the bedroom and bathrooms were brand new!

Nearby was Carrer dels Tallers... which I can only describe as the Spanish equivalent of 'Camden Town'. It had so many punk/rock stores and the people had such an expressive sense of style.. I loved it!

Barcelona vs PSG
We were treated to amazing seats at the centre front, of what I can only describe as the best football match I've ever/will ever witness! In order to beat PSG and get through to the quarter-finals, Barcelona had to 'score six' - Sky Bet's in-play odds were 200/1 - aka pretty much impossible!

My dad is the cutest selfie taker in the world!

It was honestly such a phenomenal game and the ongoing support from the Barcelona fans was amazing, everyone was so ecstatic and the atmosphere was immense! I honestly still can't believe what I saw...

Exploring Barcelona
On our second and last day, we dedicated it to roaming the streets of Barcelona. Firstly we went to visit La Sagrada Familia de Gaudi, which was also being renovated and it was incredible to see the contrast in the stonework of the old and new.

Dining in Barcelona
For lunch, we were recommended a lovely restaurant by my sister called Pez Vela. My dad and I went for the squid, prawn and clams rice paella which was hands-down the most delicious paella I will ever eat!! This place is by the sea and with the weather being so warm the view was stunning, the sea was so blue!

Short but sweet, it was such a lovely mini-break and it was so great to get out of London and go exploring! Here's to more trips away!
